Michelle, It is also amazing to see the peer pressure young people have in this regard. At my daughter's high school, no student would have been caught wearing anything other than an Obama shirt. Obama built his tribe masterfully. Obama definitely won the hearts of the 35 and below crowd. Facebook and MySpace are their world. He reached the young people where they live online and did it masterfully!

Let's hope that Obama makes as much use of social media while he is our president. Can you imagine him leading the US utilizing the strategies employed in his campaign? Amazing.

Social media are important, that's a fact but it is also true that put social media into action you need apart from a lot of work, a lot of funds and resources. Just big companies can afford "serious" social media.

Over here in Sweden we are very pleased about Obama winning!
But as an Internet marketer I am unsure if social media can even account for 2 percent of those votes. :-)

HI Michelle,
Thanks for your great info!I already twittered you once, and thanked you, but it seems, even tho Im still pumped up from 30 DC back in Aug,it seems as tho Im overwhelmed by marketers wanting to sell things about marketing, Its easy for a newbie to lose perspective, so thank you, and I look forward to your co-hosting!

Great article!

In Australia, the federal opposition leader has latched onto Twitter already...

And Facebook... And blogging... etc etc etc...

He even has a squeeze page on the front of his web-site!

http://www.malcolmturnbull.com.au/

Biggest risk with Twitter is its own financial viability. I wonder how long they can keep giving it all away for free. Seems a bit Dot-Com-Bubbly to me.
