Here are a few of my favorite ways to bring traffic to your blog quickly and easily:

Submit posts to blog carnivals (really, it works)
Comment on other people’s blogs
Use Comment Sniper to comment on popular blogs
Have a link to your blog in forum and email signature lines
Add a video linking to your blog to video sharing [...]

Wordpress, or blogging in general, is a perfect entry into social media marketing. The interaction with visitors available just via comments is very Web 2.0, and there are hundreds of plugins that help socialize one’s blog even further.
A few that I use and recommend:

I discussed Blog Rush & Traffic Jam in a recent post, and Andy Beard has followed up with a comprehensive pros-n-cons look at the services from John Reese.  One tool he mentioned was the Blog Rush Click Maximizer plugin for Wordpress.

I was at a holiday gathering this season and had a short conversation about Twitter with my husband’s Grandfather, Steve. He wondered “Why” in regards to Twitter.

I installed BlogRush about 2 months ago, but then didn’t do a lot of updating here, so my initial numbers are skewed.
Since I’ve been back to regular posting, Reese has updated the service to include new analytics, more specific categories and new sizes for the BlogRush widget.
