Easy Customer Feedback

There’s a new widget in town! I’ve added it here to the blog at the bottom of the sidebar (if you’re in a feedreader, you’ll need to click through to the site to see).

The widget, by startup Uservoice, is intended as a feedback mechanism for your site visitors. Right now, I’m asking blog visitors what topics they’d like me to write about in the future.

When a user clicks the widget, they’re brought to your UserVoice page, that looks like this:

Folks can vote for the items they want to see the most, or add their own suggestions.

As a blogger, you can embed the widget just like I have and use it in a similar manner. On a niche site, you can use it to solicit suggestions, feedback etc. And on a product site, you can use it to gather testimonials from customers and then display them to the world.

What an amazing conference!

(I’ve never bothered attending an internet marketing conference before, but I couldn’t resist this one).

Dan Raine & Ed Dale of the Immediate Edge did a fabulous job providing KILLER content – one technique I came home, fired up my computer and am killing a niche with RIGHT NOW. I was so excited about it I started in on it before even checking email.

I’d give thank you’s and shout out’s to everyone I met, but the list would be too long and I’d probably forget someone I adore, but suffice to say the Immediate Edge / 30 Day Challenge team, Market Samurai team and Wordpress Direct team, all whom attended and presented, are a fabulous, fun group of folks at the absolute top of their marketing game. 3 Part Brain Re-Write (Link Good for 12 Hours)

I have a secret weapon that I’ve been implementing for about a month now.

It’s not a script or a tool… It’s like a brain re-write.

I’m erasing old habits (like the never ending stats/email/instant messenger checking circle we run in to avoid doing REAL work) – and replacing them with ones that move my business forward.

I can’t say enough about this system. I can say this:

You don’t run a peak productivity naturally. And productivity isn’t about to-do lists, it’s about your whole body being in tune with your goals: logically, physically and emotionally. Having all three parts work in harmony to be the best you that you can be.

With any individual part (logical, physical and emotional) not in tune (sick? sad? stressed?) you’re not at your peak.

If you’ve failed at to-do lists or ‘time management’ systems like “Getting Things Done” it’s because they address the logical aspect of you, but not the emotional and physical aspects. So you start off all gung-ho and within a week or two, you’re off the program (and feeling like a failure because you didn’t stick with it).

This post comes because I’m using the system EVERYDAY and have found that not only am I more productive, I’m more MOTIVATED. That’s a gift to entrepreneurs like us who don’t have a boss breathing down our necks making us work.

The whole system is 90 days – I’ve achieved so much in my first 30 days, I can’t imagine what’s to come in the next 60!

Right behind social media, the most common questions on Friday’s Q&A call were about time management and productivity.

I gave a run down on how I manage my time and keep focused, but to be honest, it’s an area that I am still learning in.

(Having a couple of kids and a husband home with me all day leads to LOTS of distractions – I bet you can relate!)

Systematic Wordpress Success

I use and adore Wordpress (and you should too), because:

Google loves Wordpress blogs, indexes and ranks them quickly
There are a crapload of plugins available so you can make it do just about anything
It’s already in your Cpanel’s Fantastico so it’s a breeze to install

On the pages linked here there is a step-by-step system for using Wordpress – from market research to finding affiliate programs to promote to actually generating traffic to your new Wordpress blog.

Please, please, go check this out. It’s very important information from a marketer I consider to be the guy who “showed me the light” about what IM is really all about. Having the opportunity to see how he thinks, how he runs his own business, is invaluable.

Store Stacker How To

Right now, I’m primarily using it as a back-end on brand centered Wordpress blogs. I.E. I have a Wordpress blog that talks about “Sony” and then I’ll have a Store Stacker install that features Sony products. Because Google LOVES Wordpress, my StoreStacker install is quickly crawled and indexed and ranks for the long tail, model name and number kind of keyphrases. I create blog posts about wide topics within the main focus of the site, like “Sony DVD Players,” for example, and then link to my relevant Store Stacker pages to give them extra oomph and link juice. It’s working beautifully and I’m really loving the script.

VPS Hosting At Power VPS

As your business grows (and you end up with more and more domains), you’ll likely outgrow your hosting environment. Wether it’s bandwith restrictions, disk space, the number of domains you are allowed or what scripts you can and can’t run, as your business grows, your hosting will need to as well. I moved to a VPS several years back, and now have a couple of dedicated servers.

A VPS is like having your own server in that you can control the entire environment. Got a host that won’t let you run certain scripts? You can do whatever you want with your VPS.

This is an unsolicited post, but I wanted to throw my recommendation in for PowerVPS. They are FANTASTIC, the support is always within MINUTES. I adore them and couldn’t recommend them any higher. I’ve done some dumb things, and the suppurt staff is alwsy kind (never condescending). If you’re in the market, they are tops.

WP Adsense Auto – Magically

There’s a plugin I use on market testing blogs I wanted to share with you that adds Adsense blocks automatically to your Wordpress blog.

The process goes like this:

Start a Wordpress blog on the niche of your choice, optimize on-page, bookmark it, get it indexed, do some preliminary link building.

Once the site is indexed, add the “All In One Adsense and YPN” WP plugin. Enter in your Adsense code and tell it to auto add Adsene to all your posts. It’ll put the Adsense in both your previously published posts and in new ones you create, withough having to hack into code or write weird symbols in your posts.

Viola!

You can, of course, edit the colors of the ads to make them blend into your site.

One of my favorite features is that it has the option to automatically randomize the size and position of the ads. This is nice because it helps with reader’s having ‘ad blindness” – that is, they see in ad in the same spot in every post, every time, and they begin to ignore it.

For getting your WP Adsense Auto – magically inserted into your site, this plugin is tops.

Later, you can check you stats, see what the payouts are and see if the market, or site, is worth moving forward in.

Catchy Name Software Generator

Getting a catchy name for your next software or web application is important in these days of Web 2.0. Web surfers, and Google have wizened up to the old “how-to-get-cheap-life-insurance-info.info” trick.

You need quick, you need interesting, you need fun. But at the same time, you need something that’s somehow descriptive of your service. One of the things that, in the beginning, made Twitter such a hit was that the name – while not a “real” word, was totally descriptive of what the service provided: a place for people to “twitter’ little thoughts as they stream by.

I was very amused when i came across the Web 2.0 Name Generator; just hit “Generate Name!’ and it’ll spew out all kinds of Web 2-ish potential product names for you. The catch, of course, is to find one that actually fits your service. Catchy name software generators like the Web 2 Name Generator might not give you the best domain name right off the bat, but they can get your imagination flowing and LEAD you somewhere that’ll be a perfect fit.

Store Stacker and Adsense

I’ve been asked is one can integrate Store Stacker and adsense and the answer is – Yes!

Aside from displaying products coded with your affiliate link from Ebay, Clickbank, Amazon, etc., you can also choose to display adsense ads on your custom niche store.

The just released a package of 20 new templates as well, which is VERY nice, as there were only two before. Of course, the templates are SMARTY based, so they can be edited easily should you need to do so.

To display adsense in your StoreStacker store, you just put your Adsense ID in the admin control panel. The ads are then displayed for your, already built into the templates, and already coded with your Adsense ID. It makes it VERY simple.

Even though it’s Saturday, I’m taking a few minutes out of family time to tell you about something that has been a long time coming.

The site I’m going to tell you about is probably closing tonight.

So it’s important you read this ASAP.

I’ve found, use and stress-tested a new script that will help you build niche stores in minutes AND everything inside
the store is coded with your affiliate ID.

This is about low-handing fruit – your store will be a HUGE keyword rich database of all the items available from Ebay, Amazon and Clickbank (and more merchants coming soon – think Commission Junction, Linkshare, Zappos, Overstock,
ShareaSale, etc.)

What’s amazing about this is that until today, we’ve only been able to get a script that pulled data from ONE source – so you could have an Ebay store, and Amazon store, a Clickbank store. But you couldn’t do a mashup of them all without parsing and formatting your own data feeds (which, uh, I don’t know how to do).

So the new script, called “Store Stacker” is actually quite unique – and valuable.

See, having *just* an Ebay store – well, you’re not really providing anything new for Google. They can just go to Ebay to pull the same products.

But when you COMBINE all the sources together you’re pulling data from different sources, and thus providing Google with *new* content. That is, a page listing 15 products in your store is all organized and mashed up in a fresh way. So Google WILL see value in your listings – particularly, if you do like I’ve done, and create tightly-themed niche stores.

That site took me about an hour, in total, to install to my server, do keyword research, completely customize and stock with keyword relevant and keyword rich products.

Each and every product is coded with my affiliate link – so when visitors land on my pages, find something that interests them and then proceed to the merchant’s site to buy, I make a commission.

(Look at how many products I have on the site – that’s a lot of potential commission)!

Store Stacker sites have built-in RSS feeds for promotion and use a templating system to you can customize the look and feel – plus, you can add pages, text (above and below product listings), customize your meta keywords and descriptions, add Adsense (I did), customize all the options on the site, like how many products are shows per page, how the page URL’s are named, how many lines of description to show for each product and what order products appear in, among other things.

This ensures that even if someone picked the exact same niche AND the exact same keywords as you (pretty unlikely) you’ll still have a unique store.

I love this script as a back-end to an existing Adsense or content site – just install it in a directory off your domain, link to it from your main page (to get it indexed) and – poof – you’ve added another income stream to your existing sites.

As a stand-alone, like my example at Art Pottery, it totally holds it own too.

Now, one thing I didn’t expect when I spoke with Scott, the product owner and creator – he’s actually allowing unlimited domains with one purchase.

So you can get the script and install it on AS MANY domains as you own. Whether that’s 1 or 1,000 sites – you have a completely unlimited license to build these incredible passive income generating stores.
