I’ve got a neat little (actually, it’s 79 pages long) ebook by Luke Parker you can download right now, no charge, that covers a ton of free ways to get started generating free traffic to your website.
I’ll tell you right now there are some sections of the book I’m not too thrilled about – safelists, for example. I’ve never had the patience for them. But there’s also lots of great Web 2. info. There’s also information in viral list building programs, which are actually an awesome way to build initial traffic that I used with much success when I was getting started online (my hint – suck ‘em in with content before you go for the sale).
Many of the methods discussed within the book are specific to generating traffic to marketing-related sites, but no matter what market you’re in the Encyclopedia of Free Online Advertising will give you a solid base of information on resources and ways to start your online marketing.
