How To Open Loops In Your Prospects Minds

There’s a concept in copywriting, I don’t know what it’s technical name is, but the main idea is that as you’re writing your copy, you’re constantly opening and closing loops in your readers’ minds to encourage them to read further.

Christmas #14Lemme give you an example of what opening a loop might look like:

Always Be Shipping also gives you access to several top-secret WordPress plugins – but I’ll share those with you in a few minutes. Right now, I want to tell you about the how market leadership is a formula you can follow, not a lucky accident.

See how that works?

I said I’m going to tell you about something in a minute, so it’s kinda like a little “tease.” It opens a loop, a question, in the readers mind that they want answered.

So they’ll continue reading to get that loop closed, that question answered.

Now, I don’t claim to be a master copywriter – but I was thinking about this technique today and it made me think of a conversation I had recently with my brother, “The Danimal.”

(He’s started to work in internet marketing too).

I got a check in the mail for something like $600 – just a small one.

But I didn’t know who it came from, I mean, the business name was on the check but I didn’t recognize it, and all the commissions I expected to be getting were accounted for.

So I was telling him that I didn’t know where the money came from, but hey, that won’t stop me from cashing it, eh?!

And he asked me how on earth I could be getting checks like that and have no idea why.

I told him it’s because I’ve got a network of sites, and that having all those sites out there were like little sitting ducks, waiting to earn me money.

tangleAnd I thought about the concept of “Opening Loops”. And how the idea of having multiple sites, built to the specs of one cohesive system (so they can be built quickly & maintained easily), opens a bunch of traffic and commission loops all over the web, earning for you.

Too many people only open a couple of loops online. They put up a site and wait for it to bank.

Unless you’re Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, one site isn’t enough.

I’m able to get checks for hundreds of dollars that I have NO IDEA where they came from because I’ve opened up a lot of loops.

If this business model makes sense to you, you’re a perfect candidate for Always Be Shipping.

I hope that, if nothing else, you got a little copywriting and business building advice in this message.

For those of you who are ready to implement, I’ll see you inside Always Be Shipping.

Yeah! it is all about how we perceive things and the objects whom we give importance; opening a Loop mind needs your dimension as well.

Copywriting, or marketing for that matter is all about pressing emotional buttons in the mind of your prospects. Making a prospect feel as if they need your service is part of the art of selling, and when you master it your conversion rates will increase regardless of the product or service you are selling.

    Thanks for an excellent post.

From a senior copywriter in London – nice description of the tease. I hadn’t thought of it as a loop before. Judging by the number of sites you have, maybe lobster pots would have been a better analogy;)

Hi there Michelle. I tried to open up the crowdmountain but was sadly notified that it has been closed and I have missed out on it. Anyway, your article is very refreshing and it really got into me. Congrats for your $600 dollars cheque.

I’ve found at my cost over the years that 10 sites generating £1,000 a month each is a much easier prospect than 1 site doing £10,000 – it’s easy to get hung up on the “BIG WINNERS” and miss the real revenue earners along the way – great post as always Michelle – just sorry I missed out on CM!

Hey Michelle thanks for the example loop, it’s always so much more easy to understand when someone explains it so clearly like you have, Sally :)

    Thank you Michelle,
I actually learned something today. As obvious as it might seem, I never create loops in my articles… and I write a lot of articles – I’ll tell you more about that in a sec, but first I wanted to give you a well deserved kudos. (see, I used one there… awesome)

I write a least 50 articles a month and not once have I used something so simple to keep my readers intrigued. Consider yourself bookmarked.
