Asking someone to mail for your product is not a joint venture. That’s just you asking someone to mail ther list for you.
Now that I’ve got that off my chest… I get several “JV Proposals” every single day. Most end up being ignored because they are incomplete and don’t give me enough information to gauge if the product is a good fit for my subscribers.
I *adore* telling my subscribers about new and innovative products in the marketplace (OMG have I got something awesome up my sleeve you’ll not see from ANYONE else, BTW – watch your email). Innovation in this business is your lifeblood, so I always love hearing of new and interesting methods and tools. At the same time, I really only mail on products I’ve fully reviewed AND that are a good match for my list (and if you’re affiliate marketing, you should do the same. You can write a much better pitch when you’ve actually used something then you can blind. Plus, when you’ve actually used something and can recommend it based on your personal experience, your practicing ).
Anyway, the absolute best way to reach me for a JV is via the Support Desk. This way my staff alerts me of the proposal, does a cursory review for completeness – and let’s you know if you forgot anything, plus there’s not problems with emailing attachments, spam filters, etc. So much email gets lost these days, the worst is when I reply to someone’s email and receive a bounced message back, then they email me again asking why I didn’t respond to the first – I did, but they just didn’t get it, etc. It’s a pain for everyone involved!
I’ve outlined some “best practices” for sending JV proposals at the Knowledgebase, these are the things I ask for before considering a JV and I think most other marketers would appreciate the same information in proposals they receive. The more complete your request, the less work you make for your potential JV partner, the more likely you are to have a positive response.

Enjoyed your post, Michelle. I’m looking forward to the new product announcement, I’m very impressed with 30 Minute Backlinks.
Michelle, thanks for the informative post and the guidelines. I only heard about JV’s a few months ago (that will show you where I am in this game right now!) and just now realising their huge value when it comes to successful launches.
I’ve a couple of ideas for products but testing selling other peoples products first to ‘learn the ropes’.
Who knows, maybe someday I’ll be sending YOU a JV proposal mail!
I liked how Jason Moffatt summed up how to start doing JV’s – just make friends
