Leaked Reports & Software Demos for Torrent Traffic Generation

by Michelle MacPhearson

This week I’m going to cover a bunch of free or cheap-o ways to generate traffic to your website. The focus will be on Web 2.0 methods, as that’s my forte, but we’ll delve into more traditional methods as well.

First, we all know that giving something for free – a “special report,” a demo of your software, etc. is a great way to get people to visit your site and opt-in to your list. Hopefully, you’ve thought past that and have something to sell them once they do so (a full report, ebook, software with expanded features, video series, whatever).

And free is awesome, but if you’re still starting from having absolutely no list, who do you even tell that you’ve got a free thing for them?

Here’s one method I’ve used in the past with software demos – you distribute you freebie on the torrents. Give it a catchy name and people will download it, if you’ve provided decent content they’ll like it and visit your site.

Check out the video below to see the exact steps in creating and distributing your file.

Is there a way to use this type of technique for Physical Products?

Thanks!
John

Michelle MacPhearson June 13, 2007 at 1:03 pm

Well sure – just create a digital “teaser” of your physical product.

Hi Michelle-

Thanks for that Video – Great Information and you’ll have to excuse my lack of knowledge regarding torrents.

I have come scross torents quite some time ago . but…

1). First . I have a software program which I am not using and I have private label rights for.
2). If I use the Torrent sites to get the software onto torrent sites …

How do I use the trafic that downloads the torrent to come to my site and…
how do I build a list of people downloading the torrent .

3). Is the torrent just a temp piece of software that will allow the user to use the software for a set amount of time and then they come to your site to buy it?

My apologies –
It would be great if you ould explain a little more on how exactly one would monetise that traffic or buold a list with it

Thanks for your time

Hamant

Hi Hamant,

If you distribute your private label software through the torrents, people will end up at your website because you’ve (hopefully) also included a “Read Me” file, or other directions for the software within the zipped download file.

It’s also wise, IMO, to only distribute a demo over the torrents. Make it limited in time (say, 1 hour of use) or limited in features. You can have someone on RentACoder change your existing PLR software to be a “demo.” Have a pop-up box come up in the software when the demo is up, instruction people to go to your web page to get the full version.

Then, you can either charge them for the full version or require that they opt-in to your list to receive it. This way you’re making money or building a list with which to make money.

The torrent isn’t the software (or ebook, or whatever you’re distributing) itself. It’s simply a “map” for other Bittorrent users to find your upload. You’ll upload your “map” to The Pirate Bay, and other people will download the map. They will then use software, like BitComet, to interpret the map and download the actual file associated with it (like your software).

Eventually, tons of people will download the map, and tons of people will download the actual file the map points to. And it spreads virally from there. That’s what Bittorrent is all about.

Hope that helps!

Wow – That was a fast reply
You are fantastic!!
Yes your reply was a great help. and right to the point – Now I understand what it is and how to use this.

I will right on it and get working to get the software into demo mode at rent a coder.

Thansk Michelle – That one comment will be worth a pot of gold.
Many thanks and keep up the great info.

Badass idea Michelle. I heard this at one of Yanik Silver’s first underground seminars and totally forgot about this lost world of possibilities.

Thanks for the reminder – will try it with Web2Submitter software!

Dreamgate June 13, 2007 at 11:01 pm

Dear Michelle MacPhearson,

How do you know so much? Most importantly,
is this how you make a living? Do you have
affiliates that support your campaigns or are
many of your selling campaigns individual?
How long have you been in the business?

On another note, by using your methods that
you have discussed both here and on other
satellite sites, I have been able to generate
over 350,000 hits to my Myspace Website as
well as my other satellite websites for profit
in just a 2 months!

The “Seminar” was ONE of the best events
that I ever invested my time in! Thanks!!!

Cordially,
Dreamgate

Hi,

Regarding your torrent video, may I ask what other announcers you use besides the pirate bay?

If i use more than one trackers, I have to go to each individual torrent site to upload the torrent ?

Thanks

Interesting Idea Michelle,
thanks for sharing.
Someone published a list with approx. 400 torrents sites – most probably its just a matter of time until a savvy marketer will publish a torrent uploader software ;-) ))

Best regards

@Creative Irish – that’s a great idea!

@Funny Cats – check out 30 Minute Backlinks – right up your alley.

“@Creative Irish – that’s a great idea”
@Michelle it was actually a good idea in november 2007 but as far as I know somebody realised such a tool already. Having a great idea is one thing getting it pushed throught the right channels another and since I am not a native english speaker I passed on this one… ;-) )

Marcus Sykes February 23, 2008 at 5:54 pm

Hi Michelle,

Interesting Idea. I think understand why there are so many SEO articles on the torrent network now…

Highly coincidental that they recommend their specific SEO products when explaining in their PDFs how to generate traffic to the site :)
