Micro Niches And Personalization – Example In Action

by Michelle MacPhearson

I posted a quick Tweet with a link to a few companies that are doing interesting things in terms of creating their own little micro-niches and totally personalizing their customer’s experience. Check out those links if you haven’t already, lots of ideas can come from seeing what these folks are doing.

Over the weekend I emailed my Social Media Daily list and asked for a few volunteers to review “30 Minute Backlinks.” I was inundated with replies (more on that in the next post). But in people siggy lines and via their email addresses, I got to see some of the websites, products and services people are working on.

And one is so fun, I had to share it here.

Go have a look at Personalized Songs For Kids. This is so cool! Of course, I’m coming from the perspective of a parent (and I *know* any kid would LOVE this as a gift), but from a marketing standpoint, it’s awesome!

It’s small, it’s personal, it’s just for the recipient. People love this! Think about it – why else would the Lillian Vernon catalog STILL be in business after all this time…

Add to that the current trend (at least in the US) of waiting to have kids and then doting on them like crazy, this is a gift that’s right what the market wants.

If you sell a product or service, what can you do to make it more unique and special for each and every customer?

Hi Michelle,
I didn’t realize you had said such nice things about my humble little website. Thanks for your kind words and I’ll look forward to returning the favor.

Keep up the great work,
Tony
