Hi Michelle,

I love the ‘down to earth way’ you make researching & putting these niche ideas together. Your straightforward approach is so refreshing.

By the way, this ’shorty’s niche’ looks ideal for my area of expertise with so many guys feeling “height challenged”! ;)

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for another great video. I’m enjoying these along with those inside Crowd Mountain.

Is that Concord sweatshirt in reference to Concord, CA.? I’m a Concord High graduate.

I really enjoyed this video. I had actually seen this grow taller product earlier this week. When i researched it… it didn’t seem as promising. I believe mainly because wasn’t looking under enough keywords. Next time when i research a market for a product. I will make sure to use the same techniques you did. Like looking to see what keywords the sale pages are using. Or even going to the affiliate page and seeing what keywords are being suggested. I really enjoyed this video and look forward to watching and applying more of your techniques.

CB marketplace is a good place to get started with niche researches. Just be sure to know your niche by deciding and looking up for suited keywords before you decide which product to pursue and market. Nice video post! :)

Awesome, really really good stuff. Thanks for being straight to the point and for showing some real examples. It’s so refreshing after years of…ahem, how should I say this? Hot air? Hyperbole? Used Car salesmanship? Thanks for NOT being like that. I have the feeling that my subscription to another membership site is about to run out and that my subscription to a new one will happen very soon :-)

keep ‘em coming!

hi Michelle nice video
but I am totally confused when I enter the search term “how to get taller” into google it shows 17,300,000 competition. Now when i enter the same search term in “quotes” I get 57,300 But what percentage of people seach using quotes

Reply

Michelle MacPhearson May 9, 2009 at 7:31 pm

@Rob – Checking competition in quotes gives you an idea of how many sites out there are actually optimized for the term you’re looking at – rather than just how many sites out there have the words: how to get taller on them, somewhere, not necessarily in that order.

Dear Michelle,

Wow! Thanks for answering my question. That’s what I call responsive!

I do have another quite important question … if you feel it’s irrelevant then feel free to delete it and I won’t be offended I promise …

The question is: when search engines rank a site, how does the age of the domain relate to the number of backlinks? eg if a site has been there for four years but has no backlinks, how strong is that domain compared with a four-month-old site with 500 backlinks? Is there any “rule of thumb” calculation of the relative value of backlinks versus (say) a year’s maturity on a website?

More bluntly … can one use backlinks on a new site to send it up the search results to displace a mature site that lacks backlinks? And if so, how would you know roughly how many backlinks equals one year of the mature site (and of what PR)?

@Rob – Domain age is a factor – an older domain tends to be more trusts. I don’t know of an algorithm that takes into account old domain/no links kind of thing. It’s VERY possible to rank against an old domain – just build more links. If they have none, and you have 10, you’re doing 10x better than them.

Just like the presence of title tags, domain age is just one of many factors that are considered in rank. It’s not the end all be all, and can easily be overcome.

hello michelle,
let me start off saying that i am a noob but i have a couple of sites up but they are producing min. traffic so that equals min.gain… i am so happy to see someone that takes out all the fluff in this affiliate marketing game it is definately refreshing to see… i will be implementing your social media daily blueprint immediately, but let me ask you how much of it do you outsource nd how much of it do you actually do yourself…

Michelle,

Out of curiosity, when you market your clickbank offer, are you using adwords, or organic search to rank in Google?

Reply

Michelle MacPhearson May 11, 2009 at 12:47 pm

@Jason – SEO – if I were using Adwords, the KW research process would be quite a bit different.

Great run down, kinda spooky I did this exact market research with that offer and MS 2 weeks ago and came away with a handful of prime keywords. I haven’t done anything with that data, but now that I’ve watched you do what I’ve filed away as a good affiliate offer and keywords, I feel a fire under me to get moving!

Hi Michelle,

I’ve read your blog several times, but this was the first time I have actually watched a video- it was fantastic. I love that you are so down to earth and real.. and provide a true service.

I ‘ve used nichebot in the past (Market Samouri looks awesome). Its very cool to see how you get all your data and exactly how much is provided. Great tips- thanks so much.
