Targeted Backlink Free For All - Join Now

I came to this little ditty from Jack Humphrey, who’s always on top of all the things the cool bloggers are doing.

Participating in this merry-go-round of sorts is an easy way to get a bunch of backlinks to your website, and what’s more, you get to pick the anchor text of those backlinks.  Your “anchor text” is the words that link to your site, and are very important in gaining search engine rank for those words.  So if you want people to find your website when they search Google for the words, “red hot mustang” you should always link to your website with those words.

— copy and paste the Reciprocal Review Carousel and instructions below this line —

Reciprocal Review Carousel idea is based on a few simple yet effective link-building and blogging techniques I have learned:

  • Build value of the blog by creating a helpful link from within content.
  • Provide value to community by doing a review on a blog you personally like.
  • Link to YOUR blog has exact anchor text you want and helps you boost Google Rankings.
  • No more than 30 outbound links from any page to prevent penalties for link farming.
  • Viral effect of the link – as more bloggers participate, link to your blog with YOUR anchor text, coming from quality content post will spread.

Here is How to participate:

  • Copy the entire text between the specified lines.
  • Create a post on your site and put at least one paragraph explaining how you joined the Reciprocal Review Carousel.
  • Paste the text you copied into your post.
  • Remove the Bottom Review and At the Top add your own review with a link to a site reviewed, at least 2 sentences about the site and a note – Reviewed by: Your Anchor Text. Link your anchor text to your site. Here is an example:

Pierro, using “add me to your Technorati Fav’s” as your anchor text is, actually, probably not the best move.

First, I doubt people search Google that often for that term. Second, you want your site to rank in the search engines for something that it is about. If you were to end up raking high in the search engines for the phrase “add me to your Technorati Fav’s” people would visit your site and find out that it’s not in english… And that it’s ot about Technorati Favs.

Instead, it looks like you write about social media, blogging and Web 2.0 in German? So you’d want to rank well for the term “social media” in German. That’s who your audience is, that’s the phrase they type into Google to find you.

pardon me, but i got some feedback - thats
a little bit the same like spamming !
isn`t it ?

No, it’s not spamming because you’re posting on your own site.

If I cut and paste the instructions onto a post, won’t I be posting duplicate content and get spanked by Google?

Michelle MacPhearson
July 26, 2007

That’s a good question, Kermit. :-) But first, people need to understand that the duplicate content “penalty” is an utter myth. The worst that will happen if you have duplicate content is that Google will not index the page, since that content is already in their index. People make it sound like your whole site will be dropped from Google if you copy a few paragraphs from an article distribution site, which is simply not true.

Then, you have to remember that the duplicate content filter looks at the entirety of your webpage. First, your site is designed differently then mine and other sites participating in the Carousel, so Google’s spider will see different content from each of the sites.

Also, you’re only copying and pasting the information in between the red bits. By adding your own entry and conclusion, you’ve padded the directions with unique content. And you’re dropping one site from the list and adding another, which makes every person’s entry different. Finally, in a blog, comments like these provide even more content, making each and every page participating in the carousel very unique.

I hope that explains it a bit - and clears up some misconceptions people have.

-Michelle
