The best kind of traffic is targeted traffic.
It doesn’t do you any good to have a bunch of people interested in losing weight coming to your blog if you write about internet marketing.
There are two websites online that are for internet marketers, by internet marketers who’s main goal is to send you targeted, quality traffic.  They are PlugIM and Sphinn. Both of these sites are “news” aggregators – that means they let users submit stories (or blog posts) to their site, and stories get ranked and voted on by other users of the sites, and they appear on the homepage ranked in order of popularity.
Other people browse the homepages and find interesting stories to read. They visit your site to read your posts.
Because these people were originally browsing a “marketing news” site, plus they read your story headline and short description before clicking through to read the complete post at your blog, they are as laser-targeted as you can get.
I derive a great portion of my referral traffic from these kinds of sites, and I’ve developed two free tools that will help you do the same.
First, you’ll need to sign up for an account at both PlugIM and Sphinn. PlugIM allows you to add your RSS feed so that your new blog posts are automatically added to their site – a neat feature that makes this process even simpler. Be sure you do that.
After you’ve created accounts at both services, download the PlugIM Wordpress plugin and the SphinnIt Wordpress plugin. Install both on your Wordpress blog. Complete instructions are available in the “Readme” files contained in the downloads.
Next, you’ve got to contribute to the user communities on both sites.
With PlugIM any new blog posts you create will be automatically submitted to the site. With Sphinn, you’ll have to click your new “Sphinn It” button that shows up on your posts – you’ll be brought to the submission page and can add a brief excerpt to your story. Do this for all new blog posts you make that are about Sphinn’s main areas of concentration – search marketing, PPC, social media.
Then, spend a few minutes each day (maybe 10) visiting both Sphinn and PlugIM and browing the stories that interest you, voting those you enjoy and in particular, commenting on stories if you have thoughts to share.
Of course, you could skip this step – but these are communities, and your contributions will bring more eyeballs to your profile and your story submissions, and therefore to your blog itself. It’s important to contribute to a community if you want to get something back from it.
Traffic from both PlugIM and Sphinn will be incredibly targeted and can begin as soon as your plugins are installed and stories submitted.
What’s more, with the plugins installed, you’ll allow your readers to vote for your stories directly from your blog posts, which will, in turn, bring up your “votes” and position at PlugIm and Sphinn.
Finally, you’ll be receiving killer backlinks from authority sites in the marketing niche with each story you submit – reason enough to integrate both these sites into your blog promotion strategy immediately.

Hi Michelle
Thanks for the info. I knew about sphinn.com – that’s how I found your post! But not about PlugIM.
For internet marketers, we definitely need more IM social bookmarking sites like these. I’ll be adding these to my blog shortly.
By the way, if you come across any more IM ones, let me know

P.S: If you get a second, hop over to my site and leave a comment, because I’d be really grateful!
I’ve been looking for new aggregators .. these sound great. I’ll give them a try. Thanks for the info.
hey, thanks for recommending these resources! I’ll try them out asap!
thanks again,

I agree, you really do need to spend time on Sphinn if you actually want to get Sphinned yourself.
I think it has much more to do with the “tribal” mentality. Just like in forums or blogs, a new user is less likely to be taken seriously. So, by simply sticking around, you become part of the clan and will be more successful.
