Ed Dale’s been preaching the beauty of Twitter for like 15 years already, I first blogged re: Twitter on 4/2/07 and mailed my list 4/20/07. If you didn’t get the memo, John Reese joined Twitter.
It’s happening. We’re all there.
For the late adopters, I’ve been having my daily tweets auto-posted in a summary here on the blog – so you didn’t have to be on Twitter to see what was happening. I usually tweet cool links, interesting info, etc. that may not warrant a whole blog post in it’s own right – or when I’m feeling lazy and don’t want to write a whole blog post I’ll tweet the info instead.
However.
I don’t like the tweets cluttering up the blog. And I’ve removed the daily auto-posting feature.
No more late adopters. You must get on Twitter and follow me to see my tweets.
No, I don’t want to know you’re going to go wash your hair – and if you think that’s what Twitter is about, you’re sooo missing out!
I’ve met some awesome folks via Twitter already – had great conversations, given ideas out, formed alliances and made new friends.
Don’t hop on Twitter and ask everyone to check out your Genital Warts blog. Follow some marketers you know and join the conversations. Post links to anything interesting you run across during the day. Ask questions.
I could sit here and tell you I want you to follow me on Twitter so I could have another channel to reach you on, to increase my follower count. The thing is, it’s not about me.
If you’re not Twittering – or at least following the Twitter account of other top marketers – you’re totally missing out on the conversation that’s going on over there. Sherman Hu broadcasting live – announced on Twitter. Jeff Walker announcing new PLF modules being released – on Twitter. Jason Moffatt being, uh, raw – on Twitter. Joel Comm, Dr. Mike, Mike Filsaime, all Twittering.
We’re all there. Come join us.

(If you need some help getting started with Twitter, check out the Thirty Day Challenge Twitter tutorials so generously provided by Ed Dale and team – they’ll get you going, understanding and using Twitter properly).

I will have to give the 30 days a try. I was on twitter for a while, had followers but never really got into it. I am still one that does not see a value. So, I’ll check back in a month from now.
Hi Michelle
I have just started to use twitter and really like the idea of using it as a diary as well as letting the world know about my debts challenge eBook launch.
I will check out Ed’s Twitter video as he gives tremendous useful info – thanks for the reminder and I will also check out your Twitter too, to make sure that I don’t miss something of great value for working online.
Thanks for the article. Credit to you, you have some amazing info here.
While you’re all wasting time twitting I am out making money lol!!!!!
Great Post Michelle. I’m on Twitter too. There is a lot of great information there. If you want to follow me, I’m @mscopeland
Ok,ok.. Not everyone wants to know I’m out at starbucks ,or should they ? For a marketer, collecting demographic info is priceless.
Michelle,
Thanks for the post. I tweet, because I think it’s fun, not necessarily for business purposes… but, I can DEFINITELY see the value.
I know a lot of people may not recognize it, but you’re helping them with your advice.
@Clint and Richard. Twitter is like most things… you don’t see the value until you “get” it. And, you don’t “get” it until you use it.
Twitter is the #4 source of link traffic to one of my sites… behind 1)Email referrals, 2) YouTube, and 3) Facebook.
And, it’s not far behind YouTube or Facebook.
Food for thought…
You probably won’t get a million visitors from Twitter, but you will get traffic. And, if you play it right… that traffic WILL “convert”.
I’ve been turning people into twitterers every chance I get.
Now, who’s next?…
Hi Michelle,
While I also don’t want to read about what someone is having for breakfast, I think Twitter is a great way to personalize yourself to your list. It helps you build a rapport with your clients without having to sell them something.
I’ve also met others in my niche and am developing relationships with them and who knows? maybe JVs with them down the road.
thanks for the great post.
I`m not on twitter but I got to do something because I`m not making any money. I may lose everything.
I am joining u……
I love Twitter and I love it for all it’s varied reasons – people telling me they’re having a ham sandwich, people getting out of Egyptian jails, people networking with others in their niche, and much, much more!
(And I’m glad you’re taking the summaries off your blog.)
I have beeen resisting joining Twitter for quite sometime… I guess it’s time to join the revolution and now yet another social site to keep up with.
